All about Dave Ward...
My name is Dave Ward and it's my real name... not one of those showbiz names!
I'm not sure where to start! My early days were pubs, clubs, weddings and so on.
Piccadilly Radio was launched in 1974 and I joined in May 1979, on a trial. The trial lasted 29 years. My breaktrough came in 1982 on a late night show we called "Underneath the bedclothes" with Curly Shirley. It had a massive following, from which I was offered the breakfast show in 1984 and apart from a couple of years that's where I stayed.
The 80s came and went and in the 90s we moved from city centre Manchester to Castle Quay. I have tried to remember the people I have interviewed but it would take too long! So, top of the pile has to be Prince Charles... I was a little nervous to say the least but he is a very nice man.
So here we are in 2008, the month is May and I got a phone call from Dave Shearer - my boss from the 90s.
He asked if I would like to join Real Radio, back with my friend Umberto. Wow! I think it took me all of 30 secs to say yes, so here we are weekend breakfast on Real Radio.
